First Grade had great fun today celebrating Halloween. We did a fantastic job singing in the assembly and went trick or treating in the afternoon.
Happy Halloween everyone!
Today we have been writing and solving spooky number stories.
We had a wonderful trip to the Pobal on Thursday. We saw how they grind flour in the old mill. We saw the water wheel turning. We saw Luisma making different things with metal and learned how iron is made from iron ore. We were such good listeners that we got a piece of iron to take back to class. We also sang songs and spotted animals on the way.
We started our new Science unit on grouping and changing materials this week. We have been naming and searching for different materials around the class and school and are doing a great job at recognizing the different materials that things are made of.

We have been talking a lot about babies this week in First Grade as part as our Science unit 'Health and Growth'. We even had a baby visit our class (Sofia) and Ms. Jessica explained how she looks after her and the things she needs to grow up happy and healthy. Today, the first graders did amazing baby pictures by looking very carefully at photos from when they were babies. And we even took a visit to Nursery to see how the children there play and learn.
Practice your number bonds for ten by helping save the whale. Can you find the missing pipe that makes a total of ten?
