We started our new Science unit on grouping and changing materials this week. We have been naming and searching for different materials around the class and school and are doing a great job at recognizing the different materials that things are made of.
Test your sorting skills of different materials here:

We have been talking a lot about babies this week in First Grade as part as our Science unit 'Health and Growth'. We even had a baby visit our class (Sofia) and Ms. Jessica explained how she looks after her and the things she needs to grow up happy and healthy. Today, the first graders did amazing baby pictures by looking very carefully at photos from when they were babies. And we even took a visit to Nursery to see how the children there play and learn.
We are now baby experts.
If you would like to listen to a story about a baby, read one here:

Welcome to my blog everyone.
I look forward to getting to know you all so much better this year in First Grade.
Please have fun exploring First Grade's blog. Why not try a game or listen to a story on-line?
Keep stopping by to see if there are any new fun things to do here.

This week, we have been looking forward to summer and our holidays. We have painted tropical island scenes in the style of Paul Gaugin. We have made sandcastles and books about summer. We have also done some cool experiments with pushes and pulls using cars and ramps. Just 2 days to go before our summer fun holidays begin!
We have been so busy in First Grade recently, I haven't had time to post! We've been looking at life-cycles, painting bees in the hive, adding 3 numbers and so much more. On Tuesday we had a great afternoon doing our Lower School Sport's Day. We had a lot of fun running, jumping and throwing, working in teams and cheering on our friends.
